1. Shafi Ahmed

Consultant Surgeon and Co-Founder, Medical Realities and Virtual Medics

DHSS kick-starts with Dr. Shafi Ahmed’s opening keynote, The Immersive Future Reborn: Medicine + VR Meets the World, where he will give attendees an unparalleled 360° view of his surgical virtual reality platform. Armed with their own personal virtual reality headsets, attendees will be taken on a virtual tour of the operating room.

In 2014, Shafi grabbed headlines by streaming a live operation, using Google Glass, to 14,000 students and trainees across 132 countries. In fact, in April 2016, he performed the world’s first virtual reality operation, watched by 55,000 people in 140 countries.

Shafi’s passion for gadgets led him to found Virtual Medics, an e-platform that uses wearables to facilitate medical education. He also launched Medical Realties, a company that is developing a virtual reality platform for surgical training.

7. Harry Kim

DHSS will also highlight various alliances that are igniting the tipping point in digital health. 8. Drew Schiller

Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder, Validic

Digital Health and Clinical Trials: How Sensors and Clinical Devices Are Driving Superior Outcomes will be an insightful session, in which industry leader Validic will be represented by its chief technology officer and co-founder Drew Schiller.

Along with other panelists, Drew will discuss various case studies of clinical trials that have integrated patient-generated data from various clinical-grade devices and sensors.
